Welcome to MellowMate, an AI-powered mental health application providing general emotional support, mindfulness guidance, and well-being tools. By using MellowMate, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

1. Safety and Emergency Disclaimer

MellowMate is not a medical service or crisis intervention tool.

If you experience thoughts of self-harm, suicide, or harming others:

• Stop using MellowMate immediately.
• Contact your local emergency services (e.g., 999 in the UK, 911 in the US).
• Seek professional help from qualified health or mental health practitioners.

MellowMate cannot provide real-time monitoring or crisis support.

2. Purpose of the Service

MellowMate provides:

• Supportive AI conversations
• Mindfulness prompts and tools
• Well-being exercises and reflection

It is not a substitute for professional mental health care or therapy.

3. Accounts and Age

• Some features require an account and email registration.
• Users must be 13 years or older.
  • Users 13–18 require parental/guardian consent.
• You are responsible for account security and activity.

4. AI Limitations

• AI responses may be inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate.
• MellowMate cannot diagnose or treat conditions, prevent crises, or provide medical advice.
• Use the app responsibly and at your own risk.

5. Session History and Data

• Session history is stored securely to allow continuation of conversations.
• Data may be anonymised to improve the app.
• You may request deletion of your data or session history at any time.

6. User Conduct

You agree not to:

• Misuse the app or attempt to hack or disrupt it
• Use the app for illegal activity or to harass others
• Share accounts or access data you are not authorized to access

7. Intellectual Property

• MellowMate owns all app content, features, and branding.
• Users retain ownership of their input but grant MellowMate a license to use it for improving the service, research, or quality assurance.

8. Liability Limitation

• MellowMate is not liable for any outcomes, harm, or loss from app use.
• Users indemnify MellowMate against claims arising from misuse or violation of these Terms.

9. Service Availability

• Features may change or be removed at any time.
• Service availability is not guaranteed; technical issues may occur.
